The motor controller calculates and converts the energy flow between battery and motor. The combination of motor controller and motor results in an optimal electric powertrain package.

Design examples: Vehicle for short acceleration spurts with low maximum speed (for city traffic, for instance)

Crucial here is the acceleration behavior in the low rpm range
Required peak torque for acceleration to rated speed (<20 s): 85 Nm

The optimum drive package consists of motor DPE7-60 and motor controller MCE 200 with the following performance specifications:

Rated torque:47 Nm
Peak torque:87 Nm
Continuous power:24 kW

Vehicle for long distances with maximum power at higher speeds (for overland transport, for instance). Required continuous power at motor speeds of approximately 12,000 rpm: 70 kW

The optimal drive package consists of motor DPE13-150 and motor controller MCE 300 with the following performance specifications:

Rated torque:147 Nm
Peak torque:210 Nm
Continuous power:70 kW

If the short-term acceleration requires a higher peak torque, the combination of the DPE13-150 motor and the MCE 500 motor controller with the same continuous power of 70 kW provides an increased peak torque of 250 Nm instead of 210 Nm.
